Physiotherapy is the treatment of disease, injury, or deformity by physical methods such as massage, heat treatment, and exercise rather than by drugs or surgery.

Rehabilitation is restoring someone to health or normal life through training and therapy after injury or illness.

With a focus on orthopaedic surgeries, physio and rehab play a major role in the patients full treatment. In any surgical patient, the treatment does not stop after successful surgery and healing, it can stop only after the patient is able to continue his/her routine.

DHS hospital has a separate dedicated department for physiotherapy and rehab where both admitted patient [inpatients] and outpatients or patients who come through OPD are treated on the special equipment and devices.

Physiotherapy Equipment at DHS hospital

  • LCS Short Wave Diathermy Unit: Its unique induction field circuitry provides a short wave frequency that penetrates deep into muscle tissues with negligible heating in the fatty layer or bone. It is effective in inflammation of shoulder joint, elbow joint, cervical spondylosis, osteoarthritis, ligament sprains in knee joints, low back ache, heel pain, sinusitis etc
  • Ultra Sound Therapy Unit: Has 5 different output modes, digital timer, digital out-put meter & crystal safety circuit. It is used in neuro-muscular and musculoskeletal diseases to mobilise collagen tissues, remove oedema & reduce pain.
  • Electrotherapy/Interferential Therapy (IFT): It is electrical stimulation of nerves without the associated unpleasant side effects. Application: Peripheral nerve stimulation
  • TENS [Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation]: It is used as an alternative to painkilling medication. Relieves Pain very effectively in Arthiris, Neuralgia, Migraine, Spinal Disc, Surgical Trauma, Headache, Sciatica etc.
  • Muscle Stimulator Machine: Electrical stimulation is used for constant contracting and relaxing of muscles. It is an effective method to treat various vascular and musculoskeletal conditions. It enhances circulation and improves oxygen and nutrients to the muscles. It can be used with exercise. Application: It is used to stimulate sensory and motor nerves, facilitate muscle contraction re-educate muscle, improve circulation, prevent/stretch adhesions, hypertrophy muscle, prevent contractures and to test muscle for enervation.
